The palm oil industry in Nigeria is currently experiencing a rapid growth fuelled by an increase in demand from importing countries for palm oil and palm oil related products. This has contributed by the increase in the average price of CPO, where in 2006 it was registered at RM1,510 per tonne, an increase of RM119 compared to 2005. With the anticipated shortage in global oils and fats output forecasted for 2007 and 2008, the higher CPO prices is expected to be sustained for the next two years.
